What We Believe In, And What We Do
Our Mission Statement
The Mission of Redeemer Lutheran Church is to reach the lost, comfort those in need, and build the body of Christ by proclaiming the truthfulness of God's word in love.
Redeemer has a long history dating back to the 1950's. For more information please visit our history pages.
The Redeemer Pre-school exists to assist parents in the initial influential years of their child's development. The school's diversified program is designed to promote growth of the child socially, physically, mentally and spiritually. Science, games, library, music, religion, tumbling and class trips are all part of the curriculum. Morning and afternoon sessions are offered for 3 and 4 year olds. An extended day session is also provided for 4 year olds. A new "Little Lambs" program for 2 1/2 year olds has also started. For more information visit the Redeemer Pre-school website or call (973) 383-0217.
Under the guidance of our Music Director, Deborah O'Brien, our outstanding adult choir and musicians lead us in joyful praise to the Lord during our service. Holiday concerts lift our spirits. A children's choir organized by our Sunday School is also active during the school year.
Redeemer offers fellowship opportunities for family members of all ages. These are usually scheduled monthly and have included game nights, family movie nights, Oktoberfest, biking excursions, the 'Trunk or Treat' event, our 'Living Nativity', and our annual church picnic.
Our Vision Statement
We see Redeemer Lutheran Church becoming a cross-generational gathering of Christ's disciples meeting together to worship in Spirit and in truth, serving our neighbors with joy, praying for our own needs and the needs of others, supporting each other in word and deed, and carrying the message of our redeemer, Jesus Christ, even unto the ends of the earth.
From September to May, Sunday School classes meet at 9am prior to our church service. The classes are for ages, pre-school to adult. The children are studying Bible lessons that teach us to love, learn and live out God's Word.
Nursery care is available for both infants and toddlers during our Sunday worship service. Please consider joining us for these times of devotion, education and fellowship.
Women's Bible Study
A Women’s Bible Study meets here at Redeemer on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.. Our study meets in the church office meeting room. If you are looking to study God’s Word in a small group setting you are welcome to join us. You do not need to be a member of the church to attend. We provide a friendly atmosphere for fellowship, encouragement, and support in our Christian walk with the Lord. Our Bible study topics focus on deepening our faith and growing as a Christian. Topics have included specific books of the Bible, topical subjects of interest to women, and a summer session with weekly light topics with refreshments. If you would like more information, please contact Debbie Henriksen, or call the church office.
Kids of the Kingdom
Age appropriate special activities are periodically arranged for children grades 3 and above. These have included open gym nights, lock-ins, 'Minute to Win It' games, bowling, and winter sledding.
We believe in the power of prayer. Redeemer has several prayer chains. We offer you the opportunity to seek support as you deal with the cares in your life. All prayer requests are handled in strict confidentiality. Please contact us through the church office or submitting a prayer request.
In coordination with Norwescap and Sussex County social service agencies, Redeemer provides a free food pantry for those in need. Please contact the church office for arrangements or if you would like to make a donation.
Women of Redeemer
This is the local chapter of the LCMS Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML). Through events, such as the Christmas Tea, Harvest Bazaar etc. and individual donations using the LWML mite boxes, they have been able to support various missionaries and ministries including the Today's Choice pregnancy center in Newton. They have also organized fellowship activities including a scrapbooking club that meets regularly at Redeemer.
Vacation Bible School
For one week in July, Redeemer runs an excellent VBS featuring Bible lessons, upbeat music, crafts, games, snacks, and a missionary project. This is a great way to provide wholesome fun with a Biblical teaching during the long hot summer.
